چکیده

Execution of an interactive collaboration application or a distributed game involves many individual multimedia applications that concurrently generate and/or play back several audio and video streams. As the resource requirements of individual streams change and as streams/applications are started or later terminated, the amount of available resources may change dynamically. Networked MultiMedia (NetMM) applications must be willing to adapt to these changes by taking advantage of the fact that they can deliver varying levels of services that are acceptable to users. This paper addresses the problem of adding network and host adaptive capability to the component-based DirectShow RTP.

Design and implementation of IPv6 multicast based High-quality Videoconference Tool (HVCT) *

Recently, an Internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) that is next generation IP has been researched and standardized. But IPv6 is not prevalent yet, merely being adopted in research networks. With such a background, we developed high-quality multimedia conferencing application based on IPv6 multicast for activation of IPv6. In this paper, we describe the software architecture, multicast protocol tha...

An Extensible Framework for RTP-based Multimedia Applications

An extensible framework for RTP-based multimedia applications is described. We first describe the design process that led to a streaming architecture and illustrate why this is a useful model when developing network-oriented multimedia applications. We then consider the extensibility and flexibility of the framework developed. Finally, we describe design considerations and usage models for seve...

RTP/I-toward a common application level protocol for distributed interactive media

|Distributed interactive media are media that involve communication over a computer network as well as user interactions with the medium itself. Examples of this kind of media are shared whiteboard presentations and networked computer games. One key problem of this media class is that a large amount of common functionality is currently redesigned and redeveloped for each single medium. In order...
